Identify the evidence behind the map

Official location names, scene matching and released-game measurements answer different questions. A name confirms a place in Rockstar’s presentation. Scene matching proposes where imagery fits. A measurement needs a defined method and something that can be checked in the game.

Check what each pin means

A region marker may link to an overview without representing a precise destination. Look for a legend that explains that difference. On our atlas, the markers open written region guides and their positions are illustrative; they are not confirmed entrances or collectible locations.

Editorial methodEditorial advice

Look for reproducible source notes

A community reconstruction is easier to assess when each placement includes an original source, a visible landmark and an explanation of the match. Keep unresolved alternatives visible. A convincing image alone is not enough to establish a road connection or accessible path.

Editorial methodEditorial advice

Avoid false precision

An exact-looking coordinate, distance or travel time can still be speculative. Before using a route, ask what was measured, which game version was used and whether someone else can repeat the check. This site omits measured distances until there is a reliable released-game basis.

Use a prelaunch map as a shortlist

Save the named places that interest you and record what you want to verify later. After release, add access points and route checks from the game. This makes the concept atlas useful for browsing now without presenting it as navigation advice.

Follow the original mapping source

Start at Rockstar’s named places and footage, then open a community author’s own notes. GTABase has a community map with filters and progress tools; those functions do not make its reconstructed coordinates official. Preserve the author link and check the page revision before comparing an estimate.

What should a 'mapping project' search lead to?

Some searches are looking for a community author's project rather than an independent guide. Follow the original project's own credits and source notes. Our atlas is an original six-region browsing layout; it does not claim the identity, coordinates or findings of another mapping team.

Why do leak-labelled maps need a different check?

A label such as 'leaked' is not a provenance record. Look for the original source, a date and a reproducible explanation, then compare what is public at Rockstar. This guide helps assess claims; it does not host leaked files or promote a reconstruction into an official full map.
